Ireland:

·   Saab 9-5 BioPower  available

·   50% reduction on Vehicle Reg Tax (VRT), €6,500,  no excise duty of E85 and the VAT can be reclaimed.

·   16 E85 filling stations open YTD

·   End 2007: Totally 28 E85 stations planned to be open 

UK:

·   Saab 9-5 and 9-3 BioPower available

·   Fuel duty rebate on E85 20p/litre (fixed until 2010).  A £10-15 reduction in Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), (depending on which tax band the car falls into). 2% annual company car tax discount for flex-fuel cars.

·   13 E85 filling stations open YTD

·   End 2007: Totally 21 E85 filling stations planned to be open

France:

·   Saab 9-5 and 9-3 BioPower available

·   Biofuel cars get strong tax incentives: For the driver tax on new vehicles at 0 or 50%, 50% reduction on CO2 tax for new cars. For company cars: company car tax free for 2 years, recovery of 80% of VAT on E85, financial advantages at EoL handling of car)

·   E85 price set significantly lower than Diesel or Petrol (E85 0.80€ - Diesel 1.15€ - Petrol 1.30€ per litre)

·   28 E85 stations open YTD, (+40 installed, not opened )

·   End 2007: Totally 500 E85 stations planned to be open

Norway:

·   Saab 9-3 and 9-5 BioPower available

·   New tax system valid as of 01.01.2007 negative for BioPower; tax increase from 30,000 to 89,000NOK. (Currently partly offset by dealer co-op campaign with a 38,500NOK subsidy)

·   New legislation favouring E85 expected mid May 07

·   5 E85 filling stations open YTD (+6 in nxt few weeks)

·   End 2007: Totally 20 E85 filling stations planned to be open

Spain:

Belgium:

·   No tax incentives – E85 not legal.

·   0 E85 filling station open to public (1 station in Brussels – special access code needed..)

·   Gov. elections June may change the scenery.

Germany:

·   No incentives for the car itself, lower tax on biofuels.

Italy:

·   No tax incentives for biofuels or biofuel cars. Tax penalty on Saab 9-5 BioPower due to high tailpipe CO2 emission.

Hungary:

·   No excise tax on the ethanol part of E85

China:

Australia:

·   BioPower not on sale yet

·   Alternative fuels, including ethanol and LPG, are excise free until 2011.

·   0 E85 filling stations open to public to date, local ethanol producer has 7 pumps for internal cars

Sweden:

·   Saab 9-3 and 9-5 BioPower available

·   20% reduction in company car tax (~ 4 100 SEK annual tax reduction for driver and 3 000 SEK tax reduction for employer, 10 000SEK governmental support for private drivers, exception from congestion fees Stockholm city (fee to be reintroduced Aug 07), vehicle tax reduction (600-800SEK depending on model), free parking in many cities
